Our Sustainability

Building a sustainable future

We’re dedicated to integrating sustainable practices throughout our energy solutions and business operations.

At Ampcontrol, we’re solving the most complex problems in energy by collaborating with our customers and partners to challenge the future and help make global net zero a reality.

- Rod Henderson, Ampcontrol Managing Director & CEO

Our Approach to Sustainability

We have more than half a century of innovation and a commitment to supporting our people and communities. As the industry needs to change, Ampcontrol always seeks to adapt its practices to meet customer needs.

Ampcontrol has been developing a strong culture of sustainability. We seek to embrace long-term thinking, balancing our economic, social, and environmental objectives to be a thriving organisation well into the future.

We’re committed to finding a balance between the people, planet, and profit that is bearable, equitable, and viable. This is our vision of sustainable business.

How Ampcontrol supports

Sustainable Development

We’ve adopted the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as part of our broader sustainability program focus. We have six priority goals we focus on and have developed action plans around, where we can have the most impact.

SDG 7. Affordable and Clean Energy

We’re using collaboration and radical thinking to develop advanced solutions that influence the industry. We strive to provide our customers with the resources and support to help them in their decarbonisation journey.

SDG 13. Climate Action

We have developed a considered Climate Action Plan that will guide Ampcontrol, as well as our suppliers, customers, and community, as we decarbonise and help to make net zero a reality.

The plan comprises three parts—mitigation, adaptation, and advocacy. We will be actively pursuing ways to reduce emissions connected to Ampcontrol.

  • Hunter Group Renewable Power Purchase Agreement

  • Sustainable Value Chain Pilot

SDG 9. Industry, Innovation & Infrastructure

We’re using collaboration and radical thinking to develop advanced solutions that influence the industry. We aim to provide our customers with the resources and support to help them in their decarbonisation journey.

SDG 12. Responsible Consumption and Production

As we seek to lead the global energy revolution, we’re focused on delivering solutions that not only support decarbonisation efforts but are manufactured through responsible means.

We’re aligning our manufacturing practices with SDG 12 developing strategies supporting responsible procurement, production, and waste reduction.

SDG 3. Good Health & Wellbeing

We value the people of Ampcontrol and are dedicated to ensuring they go home safe and well every day. We are striving to promote a healthy work environment, and have been developing programs to promote and positively support all drivers of wellbeing.

SDG 8. Decent Work & Economic Growth

We’re committed to developing comprehensive strategies and initiatives to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion at Ampcontrol. We want to see our people thrive in our business and play an influential role in transforming our communities.

Our sustainable manufacturing

In leading the global energy revolution towards net zero, we have established a set of key initiatives and actions across our sites, facilities and equipment, incorporating decarbonisation efforts into our manufacturing processes. These include:

  • The widespread rollout of rooftop solar PV on Ampcontrol operating sites and facilities.

  • The transition to renewable electricity purchases for Ampcontrol operating sites and facilities by 2025.

  • Energy efficiency and smart energy projects including LED lighting upgrades, equipment power monitoring and use of batteries to optimise our electricity usage.

  • The staged transition of Ampcontrol vehicle fleet, including passenger vehicles, utilities, and heavy vehicles to electric/renewable fuel sources.

  • The adoption of Australia’s 2025 National Packaging Targets, the program managed by the Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO).

  • Creating our own hex wrap from recovered cardboard packaging has reduced the amount of single-use plastic packaging.
