Background:
Our onsite service team has been providing regular longwall support to Whitehaven’s Narrabri mine since installation of their Ampcontrol longwall package in 2012.
The mine is located 28km South of Narrabri in the NSW Central West. This isolated location means service technicians can be hours away; as such, running to fail is not an option if the mine wants to maintain its enviable productivity standards and remain one of the most reliable and productive mines in Australia.
To ensure availability and minimise disruption, the mine undertakes early intervention and best practice maintenance, including ongoing longwall support from Ampcontrol.
Solution:
Our field service team provides continuity of OEM service and support to the Narrabri mine onsite staff who may not be familiar with the Ampcontrol equipment.
We conduct a range of activities, including:
Audits of maintenance practices, including training and advice
Component and system audits
Equipment maintenance
Equipment repairs
Engineering review and reporting as well as support from our design and engineering network
Support and coordination of longwall moves
Onsite AS3800 pre-overhaul audits
Single point of contact for onsite staff and various Ampcontrol departments, including AS3800 overhaul workshops, cable workshops and electronics repairs.
Outcome:
Using a reliability centred maintenance strategy and engaging Ampcontrol service staff on a regular basis means breakdowns are virtually eliminated and operational availability and asset optimisation are assured.
